What It Does
LightSpeed is an animated font created by drawing letterforms with a flashlight, captured on a 16mm Arriflex camera using long exposures. No CGI or digital tricks were involved. The grain, light flicker, and optical quirks are all byproducts of the actual production process, which gives it a look that’s hard to replicate synthetically. It works in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and Nuke.
It suits titles or graphics where you want to convey speed, energy, or a retro analog aesthetic.
Key Features
40+ animated letters. The full set covers standard title and caption use cases, with each letterform carrying the organic imperfections of the film process.
Global controls. Speed, bounce, scale, transition-in, and color can all be adjusted from a single set of controls, so you’re not tweaking individual layers.
5 bonus HD timelapse clips. Included background and overlay clips (720p) that work as standalone backgrounds, transitions, or fill layers alongside the font.
Characteristic compatible. Works with the Characteristic system from aescripts for managing animated typefaces.
Who It’s For
Useful for editors and motion designers building title sequences, event promos, sports content, or anything calling for a high-energy, light-based aesthetic. The analog film origin means it reads as genuinely textural rather than computationally generated.
Pricing
LightSpeed is a one-time purchase at $39.99. Upgrade pricing may be available for previous buyers, accessible after logging in to your aescripts account.
