What It Does

AI Motion Blur by Blace Plugins analyzes footage frame-by-frame using an AI-based optical flow model, then applies natural-looking motion blur based on estimated motion vectors. The main use case is footage that feels too sharp, whether shot at a high shutter speed, rendered digitally, or captured as a timelapse. Apply the effect to a layer in Premiere Pro and the result is immediate.

Key Features

AI-based motion and blur estimation. The core algorithm estimates per-pixel motion vectors and applies blur that tracks actual movement in the frame, rather than a simple directional smear. The v1.1.29 update introduced an improved optical flow model for more accurate results.

Motion vectors output. Exports native HD-resolution motion vectors as a separate output, which can be used for other compositing tasks.

Adjustable blur intensity. The strength of the effect is fully controllable. You can push it well beyond what natural motion in the shot would produce, which is useful for stylized or abstract work.

Alpha layer support. Works on layers with transparency, added in v1.3.35. Useful for motion graphics and animated elements that need to blend with live-action backgrounds.

4K+ support with CUDA acceleration. Resolutions above 4K are supported with CUDA Memory Sharing on NVIDIA GPUs, speeding up rendering for large-format projects.

Premiere Pro and After Effects compatibility. Supports Premiere Pro and After Effects 2024 through 2026.

Who It’s For

Most useful for editors working with footage that has that digital, over-sharp look: drone shots at 1/4000s, raw timelapse sequences, 3D renders, and motion graphics composited onto live footage. Also worth considering for anyone doing stylized work where exaggerated motion blur is part of the look.

Windows users get the best performance with an NVIDIA GPU (8GB VRAM or more). Mac support requires Apple Silicon running macOS Sequoia with at least 16GB RAM. Other configurations will work but render slowly or not at all.
