What It Does

Face Director is an AI plugin from Baskl that lets editors manipulate facial performances directly in Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Nuke. The core use case is fixing footage that would otherwise require a reshoot: an actor with the wrong expression, a continuity error between cuts, or a blooper that made it into the edit.

Editors drag directly on the preview window to adjust facial features in real time, so there is no need to dig through numeric controls to see results.

Key Features

Fix Acting. Adjust eyes direction, smile intensity, expression, and head rotation independently. Useful for moments where a performer’s expression doesn’t match the scene’s tone.

Continuity Correction. Sync facial states between shots where a cut reveals an inconsistency, such as a mouth that was open in one angle and closed in another.

Puppet Mode. Use another video layer as a motion driver, copying facial animation from one source onto a target face. This is the retargeting workflow, letting you transfer performance data between clips.

Keyframe Animation. All facial parameters are animatable with standard keyframes, so you can push expressions to extremes for stylized or comedic work.

Direct On-Canvas Dragging. Rather than adjusting sliders blindly, you drag on the face in the composition preview. Changes reflect immediately.

Who It’s For

This tool fits editors and post-production teams dealing with performance issues in locked picture, documentary editors cleaning up interview footage, and anyone who needs to match expressions across coverage. The retargeting feature also opens it up to character animation workflows where face-driven puppetry is useful.
