What It Does
Fixel Detailizer 2 PR applies a wavelet-based frequency separation algorithm to video frames in Premiere Pro, breaking each image into five distinct detail scales. You can then boost or reduce contrast at each scale independently, much like adjusting bands on an audio equalizer. This gives far more precise control over sharpening than a standard Unsharp Mask, which treats all detail sizes the same way.
Key Features
5 Bands of Detail Control. Each scale corresponds to a different size of detail in the image, from fine texture up to broad tonal variation. You can, for example, bring out skin texture at a small scale while leaving mid-range detail untouched.
Preserve Saturation Mode. Processing is applied to the luminosity channel only, so aggressive sharpening won’t introduce color shifts or hue artifacts.
Pseudo-HDR Effect. Pushing the large-scale bands creates a local contrast look similar to HDR processing, useful for landscape footage or wide shots where tonal depth matters.
Multi-CPU Acceleration. The plugin uses native code with multi-core optimization, keeping render times reasonable on longer timelines.
Who It’s For
Editors who need more control over detail and sharpness than Premiere Pro’s built-in effects provide. The frequency separation approach is particularly useful for footage with complex texture, such as close-up interviews, wildlife, or documentary material where fine detail matters. The pseudo-HDR capability also makes it useful for editors doing quick landscape or travel work without a dedicated grading pass.
