What It Does
Pixel Sorter 4 brings the pixel sorting glitch effect to Premiere Pro, After Effects, Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, and Photoshop under a single universal license. The effect rearranges pixels along rows or columns based on brightness, color, or other criteria, producing the streaked, fragmented look common in music videos, title sequences, and sci-fi visual work. The plugin has appeared in productions ranging from Travis Scott videos to Amazon’s The Peripheral title sequence.
Key Features
Simple Mode. A stripped-down interface shows only the essential controls, useful when you need a quick result without digging through the full parameter set.
Mask Constraints. Apply sorting only within a masked region, letting you target specific areas of the frame rather than the whole image.
Stretch Mode. Extends sorted pixels beyond their original boundaries for a more extreme, smeared look.
Noise Section. Adds grain or texture on top of the sorting effect to break up the artifical regularity and make results feel more organic.
Mirror Sort. Sorts outward from a center axis, which makes loopable animations easier to construct without visible seams.
Floating Particles. Creates the appearance of pixels drifting away from the image, useful for disintegration or reveal transitions.
Universal License. One purchase covers After Effects, Premiere Pro, Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, and Photoshop.
Who It’s For
Motion designers and editors working on glitch aesthetics, cyberpunk or sci-fi looks, music video visuals, or experimental title sequences. The mask constraint and noise controls give enough precision for broadcast work, while the simple mode makes it accessible for editors who just need the basic effect quickly. Floating particles and mirror sort are particularly useful for looping VJ content.
