What It Does
ReScanX takes ordinary footage and rebuilds it as a scan-image using eight distinct reconstruction modes. Rather than layering a texture or overlay on top, it reads the edges, gradients, and luminance from the source frame first, then constructs the result from that data. The output can look like a phosphor-lit contour map, a surveillance monitor, a haunted afterimage, or a wire-stripped silhouette, depending on the mode you choose.
It works in both Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. A single purchase covers both hosts, and saved looks travel between them.
Key Features
Eight reconstruction modes. Each mode gives the same shot a different visual language. Contour Scan traces silhouettes and facial edges with clean line structure. Terrain Scan adds spatial relief and depth to bodies and objects. Phosphor Cloud produces a soft, luminous, suspended feel. Surveillance Display makes footage look intentionally monitored and technical. Signal Collapse is the unstable option for sync loss and breakdown moments. Depth Relief Scan is the premium default for faces and products. Ghost Scan creates afterimage and residue softness. Wireframe Subject strips the frame down to sparse geometry.
Subject targeting. Controls let you protect faces, products, and hero objects so the treatment stays legible even when the look gets heavy. Targeting, contour strength, and surface density all have dedicated adjustments.
Preset and saved looks library. Built-in presets give you a strong starting point. You can also save, export, and reuse your own looks across projects, which keeps a consistent visual world from one sequence to the next without trying to recreate a lucky accident.
Finish controls. Bloom, phosphor response, frame styling, reticles, radar overlays, and blend options are applied after the base reconstruction is already locked. HUD and display framing options are available for technical and sci-fi contexts.
Motion-reactive processing. Highlights breathe, colors smear, and sync tears based on the actual video data rather than a static pattern. The effect reacts to what is in the shot.
Who It’s For
ReScanX suits motion designers, finishing artists, and editors working on music videos, trailers, brand films, sci-fi scenes, monitor inserts, or any project where the brief calls for a premium electronic image aesthetic. The subject targeting and saved looks make it particularly useful when consistency across multiple shots matters, or when the brief is likely to change partway through.
It is a compute-heavy effect. Denser looks at higher resolutions benefit from a strong CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and fast cache storage. Lighter 1080p work runs on a recent 4-core machine with 16 GB RAM.
Pricing
ReScanX is sold as a one-time purchase with a free trial available. The extracted pricing data lists it as pay-what-you-want, though the product page shows a single fixed price. Check the aescripts listing directly for the current price. One license covers both After Effects and Premiere Pro.
