What It Does

AEVIEWER 2 is a media browser panel for After Effects and Premiere Pro. It lets you preview and import a wide range of file types, including AEP, MOGRT, PRPROJ, PSD, AI, FFX, video, audio, and images, without leaving the application. The free version is pay-what-you-want (including $0), and a Pro upgrade adds deeper format support and authoring tools.

Key Features

Multi-format preview and import. Browse and import AEP, MOGRT, AET, AEPX, PSD, AI, WAV, MP3, MP4, MOV, PNG, JPEG, GIF, and more directly from a panel inside Premiere Pro or After Effects. Pro expands this to EXR sequences, SVG, MXF, MKV, FLAC, and dozens of additional formats.

Collections. Group files into virtual folders for moodboards, thematic libraries, or frequently used assets. Collections can be shared and packed into distributable packages.

Instant search. Find files by keyword across subfolders. Useful when your asset library spans multiple nested directories. Search activates with Ctrl+F and supports Japanese, Chinese, and Korean with a two-character minimum.

Script execution. Run JSX and JSXBIN scripts directly from the Scripts tab. Pro users can organize scripts into categories for faster access.

Audio waveform preview. See waveforms before auditioning a track. Hover to play, making sound selection faster when pulling from a large SFX or music library.

Drag and drop import. Added in v2.2, files can be dragged directly into the timeline or project panel.

Pro: Font preview and apply. Browse installed system fonts with a custom preview string and apply them to text layers with a double-click.

Pro: Reduce AEP size. Compress After Effects project files by up to 90%, useful for archiving or sharing large project files.

Pro: Authoring tools (Prerender tab). Save compositions as standalone projects and generate preview thumbnails automatically. Aimed at template authors distributing MOGRT or AEP packs.

API access. Available in both tiers, the API lets developers integrate AEViewer with their own tools or create secured, encrypted template packages.

Who It’s For

Editors and motion designers who manage large libraries of templates, presets, stock assets, or scripts. Particularly useful for editors working with MOGRT template packs in Premiere Pro, and for motion designers who frequently pull from AEP project libraries in After Effects. Template authors benefit from the Prerender and packaging tools in Pro.
