What It Does
Shortcakes takes selected clips on your Premiere Pro (or After Effects) timeline and arranges them into a split-screen grid. You specify how many clips to line up on the X and Y axes, press a button, and the extension repositions everything across video tracks automatically. It handles mixed clip sizes, photos, and different sequence resolutions without requiring manual scaling or positioning.
Key Features
Grid-based layout control. Set the number of columns and rows, and Shortcakes distributes your selected clips accordingly. Size and spacing are adjustable after the initial split.
Border and numbering options. Add borders between panels or overlay numbers on each split. These are exported as PNG files via the Save Option button, with an option to auto-import them back into your project.
Broad compatibility. Works in Premiere Pro 2022 through 2026 and After Effects 2023 through 2026. The workflow is the same in both applications, with the After Effects version arranging selected layers in a composition from top to bottom.
Free trial available. A trial download is offered on the product page before committing to purchase.
Who It’s For
Useful for editors who regularly build reaction videos, comparison edits, sports highlight reels, or any project requiring multiple clips displayed side by side. Manually positioning and scaling clips for split-screens is tedious work, and this extension reduces it to a few clicks.
