What It Does
AI Relight Pro analyzes the 3D properties of your footage and lets you place virtual lights into a scene after the fact. You can position lights along X, Y, and Z axes, animate their position and color over time, and blend them with the original image. It works in both Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
The core use case is rescuing footage with bad lighting, but editors also use it creatively: rendering only the light pass to create neon glows, dramatic side lighting, or animated color washes on subjects.
Key Features
AI-driven relighting. The plugin estimates depth and surface normals from your footage to simulate how a real light would fall across the scene. No green screen or special shoot setup required.
Animate position and color. Each virtual light can be keyframed independently. Useful for simulating a moving light source, a flickering effect, or a color temperature shift across a shot.
Recover poorly lit footage. Works as a corrective tool on underexposed or flatly lit clips, adding directionality and depth that wasn’t captured on set.
Pro-exclusive features. The Pro tier adds improved temporal consistency (more stable results frame to frame), support for After Effects Point Lights and AE comp lights, and unlimited lights per effect instance. The Standard version caps you at three lights per instance.
GPU-optimized. Runs on Windows and Mac (including Apple Silicon). Compatible with Premiere Pro 2025 and After Effects 2022 through 2025.
Who It’s For
Colorists and finishing editors who need to fix or reshape lighting in post without returning to set. Also useful for motion graphic artists who want to add depth and dimensionality to footage-based compositions. The Pro version is better suited to longer-form projects where flickering or temporal instability across cuts would be noticeable.
