What It Does
QuickImporter replaces the native file import dialog in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition with a faster alternative built around fuzzy keyword search. Instead of navigating folder trees, you type part of a filename and get instant results, even with typos. One license covers all three host applications.
Key Features
Fuzzy keyword search. Searches through thousands of files instantly and tolerates misspellings, which is genuinely useful when you half-remember a filename from a large footage library.
Built-in audio player. Hover over a file icon to start audio playback without opening a separate application. Useful for auditioning sound effects or music tracks before importing.
Image sequence grouping. Image sequences appear as a single search result rather than hundreds of individual files, keeping search results clean when working with RAW or DNG sequences.
Media player preview. Video files can be opened in a media player for a quick look before committing to an import.
Quick navigation. Favorites, recent folders, and an autocomplete system let you jump to frequently used footage directories without retyping paths.
Quicklook thumbnails (Mac only). On macOS, thumbnails are generated for a wide range of formats including PSD, AI, EPS, and most video formats. On Windows, thumbnails are limited to JPG and PNG.
Audition multitrack support. When working in Audition’s multitrack editor, files are inserted directly into the active track rather than just opening in the waveform editor.
Who It’s For
Editors and motion designers who regularly dig through large footage libraries will get the most out of this. It’s particularly handy if you maintain a shared drive with hundreds or thousands of named assets and want to pull specific files without leaving your timeline. The audio preview is also a time-saver for sound designers pulling from SFX libraries in Audition.
A few limitations to be aware of: image sequence import doesn’t work in Premiere Pro versions older than CC 2015.4, and audio preview is not available for AIFF files.
Pricing
QuickImporter is a one-time purchase at $39.99. A free trial is available. The single license covers Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition. It is also available as part of the Editing Essentials Bundle alongside Still Exporter and BeatEdit.
