What It Does

ShotViz was a plugin for Cinema 4D, After Effects, and Premiere Pro that bridged the gap between previz and post-production. You would embed metadata directly inside a C4D project file, and ShotViz would read and display that data inside AE or Premiere, keeping shot information visible and accurate throughout the edit.

Note: ShotViz has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase. The last update was released in November 2019, with compatibility limited to CC 2018 and CC 2019.

Key Features

Embeddable C4D metadata. From within Cinema 4D, you could attach a range of data to your project: Project Name (with render token support), Shot Number, Active Camera, Lens in mm, Frame Rate, Frame Number (which updated live in AE and Premiere), Date, Take, and a custom copyright string.

Display customization in AE and Premiere. Once imported into your composition or sequence, you could choose which metadata fields to show, then adjust font, size, color, and opacity. A custom logo watermark could also be added.

The plugin was a collaboration between Yes Captain and Plugin Everything, aimed at productions using C4D for previz alongside Adobe tools for finishing.

Who It’s For

ShotViz would have been useful for studios running Cinema 4D previz pipelines where shot metadata needed to carry over into Premiere Pro or After Effects automatically, reducing manual data entry and keeping editors informed of camera and timing details from the 3D stage.

Pricing

ShotViz is no longer available. It was previously sold as a one-time purchase. No trial, subscription, or upgrade path exists at this time.
